Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking official stated the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
