'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from outside the box, and the defender quickly slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory sealed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a next round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has quickly done the same in his new home. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for club and country, performing well for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was sealed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I realized I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and driving. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
